Der 27-minütige Kurzfilm „Das Kulturgespräch im Radio“ ist sowohl ein Roadmovie als auch ein Film über Gegenwartskunst, bei dem ein real geführter, nicht vom Regisseur vorgegebener Kulturdialog zwischen dem Kunstkritiker Christoph Tannert und dem in Deutschland bekannten Künstler René Schoemakers im dokumentarisch angelegten auditiven Teil auf eine fiktive Story trifft: Ein Speditionsfahrer, der sich auf das Ausfahren von Obst und Kunstwerken spezialisiert hat, begibt sich lethargisch wie jeden Tag auf eine Tour. Als er eine Anhalterin mitnimmt, wird seine Routine, in die er sich eingerichtet hat, plötzlich durchbrochen. Nachdem der Fahrer sein Autoradio eingeschaltet hat, wird das Roadmovie zu einem Stummfilm. Nur Musik und das Kulturgespräch ist fortan zu hören.

The 27-minute short movie "Das Kulturgespräch im Radio" / "Culture Talk on the Radio" is a hybrid, narrative and documentary, a road movie as well as a film on contemporary art. A haulage driver who works for a company that specializes in the delivery of fruit and art initially goes about his work lethargically, but his mood brightens when he picks up a female hitchhiker. After a while they begin to like each other and get closer during the course of the journey. Apart from everyday activities such as drinking coffee and unloading goods from the vehicle a number of things happen that interrupt the driver's daily routine. Eventually the truck driver even trusts the hitchhiker with his wallet when she fills up the truck with petrol for him. After tenderly touching each other with their pinkies for three seconds the haulage driver pushes her hand aside.
At her destination the hitchhiker gets out. For almost the whole time they listen to a radio program that just happens to be broadcast. This is a conversation between the well-known German artist René Schoemakers and the art critic Christoph Tannert. The latter is the presenter of the culture and arts program. The interview is real and has not been scripted beforehand. Some of the things referred to during this conversation are taken up in the narrative part of the film. The film becomes a silent movie once the car radio has been turned on, allowing the content of the conversation about culture to creep into the narrative and eventually gain equal footing with the power of the moving pictures.
